How do you set different To and From names?
Put each recipient on its own line. Everything uses the From name you type in the From box, such as "Love, the Garcias" or "Santa". When one gift is from someone else, add a slash and their name on that line, for example "Leo / Auntie May", and only that tag changes.
This makes it easy to do the tags for a whole household in one go: gifts from the children to their grandparents, from the parents to the children, and from Santa, all on the same sheet. If you would rather write the names yourself, leave the list empty and print a sheet of blank To and From tags.
Which tag shapes and borders can you choose?
There are three shapes and four borders, all drawn as crisp vector lines so they print sharply at any size.
- Tag with a hole: the classic luggage tag shape with clipped corners and a punched-hole marker for ribbon or string.
- Rectangle: rounded corners, easy to cut with a paper trimmer and good for sticking flat on a parcel.
- Round: a circle that suits jars of homemade sweets, bottle necks and small boxes.
- Borders: holly with berries, a red and white candy cane stripe, a ring of snowflake dots, or a string of fairy lights.
What paper is best for printable gift tags?
Ordinary printer paper works if you glue or tape the tags flat onto the wrapping. For hanging tags, use light card, roughly 160 to 250 gsm (about 60 to 90 lb cover), which most home printers can feed one sheet at a time; check your printer's manual for its limit. Full-sheet sticker paper turns every tag into a label you can peel and press on.
Print a test page on plain paper first to check the colours and the layout. If your coloured ink is running low, switch Ink to Ink saver and the borders print in grey, which still looks smart on brown kraft wrapping.
How do you cut and attach the tags?
- Cut along the outer line of each tag with scissors, or use a paper trimmer for the straight edges of rectangles.
- For tags with a hole, punch through the small circle with a hole punch or the tip of a pencil pushed into a lump of modelling clay underneath.
- Thread ribbon, baker's twine or a strip of wrapping paper through the hole and tie it around the parcel.
- For flat tags, use a glue stick or a loop of tape on the back, or print on sticker paper.
- Keep a few blank tags in the wrapping box for last-minute gifts.
Should you print 8 or 12 tags per page?
Eight per page gives large tags, about 9 cm wide, with room for long names such as "Grandma and Grandpa Wilson". They suit big boxes and gifts that will be seen from across the room.
Twelve per page gives smaller tags, about 6 cm wide. They suit stocking fillers, office gifts, cookie bags and teacher presents, and they use less card. Very long names shrink to fit on the smaller size, so keep them short where you can.
Questions people ask
Are these Christmas gift tags free to print?
Yes. Make and print as many sheets as you like with no account. Your names stay in your browser and in the link you save.
Can I print gift tags with names on them?
Yes. Type one recipient per line and each tag prints with that name. Add a From name for all tags, or a different one per line with a slash.
How many tags fit on a page?
Choose 8 large tags or 12 smaller tags per page. You can list up to 96 names, and the last page fills up with blank tags.
Can I get blank Christmas tags to write on?

Will the tags print on A4 and US Letter?
Yes. Pick your paper in the builder and the sheet is laid out to fit with a safe margin for home printers.
Can I print them in black and white?
Yes. Choose Ink saver and the colours switch to grey and black, which also looks good on brown paper wrapping.
What is the best way to attach a tag?
Tags with a hole tie on with ribbon or twine. Rectangles and round tags stick flat with a glue stick or tape, or print them on sticker paper.
